The end of an era: Grisby's has closed.

by Heather Kushnerick, Special Collections Librarian & College Archivist

It was announced yesterday that Grisby's cafe will not reopen when the spring semester starts - Bobby Grisby decided to retire! Mr. Bob took over running the snack bar at South Texas in 1986 at the age of 52, when the Summit Club, where he was general manager, closed. He brought with him Rose Franklin, with whom he had worked for 5 years. In 1991 the student lounge was renovated and his kitchen was enlarged, allowing him to add more menu items. For over 30 years, Mr. Bob and Ms Rose fed, encouraged, and joked with faculty, staff, and generations of law students. We wish them the best!
